What to Do Right Away
iPad screen repair may be required in several cases:
– The glass is broken. Even if you see only small cracks on the screen, this is already a reason to act. Firstly, these cracks will increase over time. Secondly, water and dust can get inside the case even through such small damage inside.
– The touch screen does not work properly. If your iPad’s touch screen is not responding to touch, it could be because the display glass is broken. Replacing the sensor may fix this problem.
In any of these situations, you should not repair the gadget yourself. You need special equipment, the right parts and a lot of experience for this. If you don’t have it, don’t experiment with an expensive gadget!
You can go to any Apple service center for help, but please note that the Apple warranty does not cover accidental damage, meaning you need to have an AppleCare+ plan or you will have to pay to repair the gadget. Also, note that Apple service centers may refuse to repair older gadgets.

Cracked glass or a damaged display?
An iPad screen has two parts: the outer glass with the touch layer (the digitizer) and the display under it. What we replace depends on which one is damaged and on how your model is built.
Cracked or shattered glass. The picture is fine, but the glass is broken. Cracks spread and let dust and moisture in.
Touch not responding. Parts of the screen or all of it ignore your finger, usually because the digitizer is damaged.
Display damage. Lines, dead pixels, flicker, ink-like spots or a black screen, even when the glass is intact.
On the standard iPad and on iPad mini 2 and 3, the glass is a separate part from the display, so cracked glass over a working picture usually needs only the glass. On iPad Air 2 and later, iPad mini 4 and later and every iPad Pro, the glass is fused to the display, so a crack means replacing the whole screen assembly. What changes the price: the model, whether only the glass or the whole display is damaged, and whether the drop hurt anything else, such as the frame, the charging port or the board. Complex board damage may go to our Manhattan lab, and we tell you before that happens.

Should I repair my old iPad screen?
It depends on what kind of gadget model we are talking about. If your iPad is very old, repairing it can be difficult due to the lack of necessary spare parts. Unfortunately, some of them are no longer available for purchase, as the company has discontinued these models. Contact us to see if we have the right parts in stock for your iPad model.
Is it cheaper to repair or replace an iPad?
To answer this question, we need to find out the extent of the damage. For example, if only the glass of your iPad is broken in a fall, it will cost you less to replace it than to replace the entire screen. However, if other components inside the case have also been damaged, the overall repair of the device can be very expensive. Does a screen replacement affect water resistance?
Any repair that opens the iPad can affect its factory seals, so we cannot promise the original water resistance after the repair. Keep the iPad away from water after any repair.
